I have to share something with you. Last night before Ray went to bed we joined hands and went before the Lord and, feeling very vulnerable, we laid out our praises first, our gratitude next, and (as the reality of what we would be facing today hit us) we laid our burdens and fears before His throne of mercy and grace. Yes, we trust God for everything in our spirit but in our flesh we must be honest with our shortcomings.
I specifically asked the Lord to give me special little signs throughout the day to come so I would be reminded of His peace, comfort and nearness; that I would hear His Holy Spirit prompting me in each decision, response and interaction with others.
I won’t share everything (there were many reminders of His love today) but on our way to Nashville about 6am He painted the most amazing sunrise all across the Eastern sky; it took my breath away! Traffic was light on the route we chose and we arrived early so they took us back to his holding room shortly after we arrived. Vanderbilt University Hospital is an amazing and wonderful place with incredible specialists and medical teams to care for you.
I positioned myself in the waiting room at the same table where I met my new friend, Trishia Petty back in July. It wasn’t long before a family joined me in the corner and I made some more friends. I was surrounded by a feeling of happiness and comfort that may have seemed out of place to onlookers, but I knew God was loving me through this observation of a father and his young teens as talked about their dreams and played card games while they waited on news of their grandmother.
There were more moments, like a special call with my sister Lorrie and unexpected visits from Woody and Bob to sit with me for a while and pray with me. God is so faithful, He loves showing himself to us in the ordinary things as well as the extra-ordinary ones. Thank you Lord, for your love.
I love that when we ask for God to show us those little things that He usually shows us many many little things to remind us of His love and constant care for us. I’m so happy that you had so many reminders of beauty, peace, comfort, and love that day when you needed it most!
Hi Rochelle! Those are the sweetest days, even when they are the hardest to get through.
Wonderful! Thanks for sharing!
You are so welcome! I’m looking forward to hearing how you’ve been blessed too.
I always grew up calling these “God Hugs”. When only he could do something and you knew it was from him giving a little nudge. I agree that the best relationship is a real one with the Creator!
Yes, Jill. God hugs! Do you find yourself smiling a little “I know what that was” kind of smile when they happen? I do.
God is the best medicine there is. It is always amazing how he can bring calm to me even in the most stressful places. I am glad you felt him and that everything went well.
Thanks Peg, me too. Sometimes it’s as simple as a sensation something soft is brushing against my cheek.
So weird… I must have read this yesterday in my feed, but it feels like I read it a week ago. Anyway, I’ll continue to pray for you and Ray. God bless!
Kathryn, you probably read it on my facebook page; this is where I originally wanted it but “tech” problems got in the way. 🙂
I hope Ray is okay and that you are both catching up on a bit of sleep. Hospitals aren’t always wonderful places to be, and I know that you’re getting back a bit of the love you always give, and I’m glad. Hang in there and remember that the nurses run the hospitals! 🙂
Thanks Bonnie, sounds like you’ve had some experience there! He’s feeling a little “puny” this afternoon. That’s a southern word my friend Joan added to my vocabulary. 😉
Wonderful! I love little love notes from Him! 🙂
Yes, Kristen, I cherish those.
God really is faithful. I just have to remember to keep the faith myself and not doubt him. Hope everything works out great for you.
Madison, Doubting comes naturally to us from the first time someone breaks our heart we begin to distrust. Real faith only comes by way of supernatural LOVE that wraps us in Peace we can’t explain. You already know where to find it.
Beautiful!
Hoping he’s feeling better 😉
Day by day, Liga! Thanks
I am so glad that the Lord answered your prayers and that you felt his presence in this stressful time. It is awesome to hear how He works in the lives of others! 🙂
Thank you Ashley, maybe you can share how he’s worked in yours in some way.
Beautiful… The power of prayer is tremendous. The strength of his mercy and grace, kindness and steadfastness have gotten me through many difficult and potentially life-threatening moments. Bless you and Ray, and I hope he has a speedy recovery. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you Lorelai, kindred spirits are called to know and share blessings (sometimes very personal ones). Sweet reply.
